Exotic Dancers and the "Aging Out" Process

There are few professions that rely as much on physical attractiveness as that of exotic dancers whose presentation of self is a prime example of the power of sexuality. The exotic dancers fall into three major categories: bikini dancers, topless dancers and nude dancers. We have explored the differences between the dancers as well and the significant differences found in those currently dancing and those who are no longer in the field.

There are numerous groups in society whose "occupational life" is short, such as athletes, models, and certain performers. Exotic dancers are usually well paid for their performances by way of the patrons of the clubs. We have explored the patterns, compensation and plans of the dancers. They have no retirement program, medical or dental insurance and are classified as working in a marginal sex related occupation. What do they do with their earnings and how do they plan for the future. The comparison between the two groups, dancing and non-dancing, provides insight into the issues of sexual attractiveness and what happens when that attractiveness fades.
